RE:  APPLICATIONS OPEN – EJTN-ECtHR 2016 Training on Human Rights for EU Judicial Trainers

Dear EJTN Administrative Law Contact Points,

I am pleased to announce to the EJTN Administrative Law SWGs 2016 edition of its training in partnership with the European Court of Human Rights the EJTN-ECtHR Training on Human Rights for EU Judicial Trainers (AD/2016/04) is now officially confirmed for Tuesday, 21 and Wednesday, 22 June 2016, at the courts premises in Strasbourg (Allée des Droits de l’Homme, 67000 Strasbourg, France).

Target group, places & content: This day-and-a-half event, led by current and former court officials, is open to the participation of 39 judges and judicial trainers from all 28 EU MS and will focus on  the most recent developments in the case-law of the ECtHR, the application procedure before the Court and the execution of its judgments, the use of the HUDOC database, and much more. It will also provide participants with the opportunity to attend the Grand Chamber hearing in the case of Khlaifia and Others v. Italy (reception and detention conditions of migrants, right to liberty and security, prohibition of torture).

Application procedure and deadline: The deadline for applications is set for Friday, 15 April 2016. An average of 2-3 judges/judicial trainers may be admitted from each EJTN member or contact point institution, depending on the number of places available and the balance of candidates between EU MS. In order to submit applications, please send me the candidates contact details  (name, function, current institution, email) in priority order by the indicated deadline.
